Personal Essay

A personal essay (in Word or PDF format, maximum 1000 words) must be uploaded on the application form.

An essay must include sports background, current AAU participation, and what makes the applicant a deserving candidate for the Middle Atlantic District AAU Scholarship Award. Also to be included are academic and community involvement and the importance of playing AAU sports.

This personal essay is the most critical component of the application. Since the committee members do not interview scholarship applicants, the essay must convey everything about the applicant to the committee members. This is the opportunity to prove to the committee that the applicant is deserving of the award, that AAU sports have personal importance in the applicant's life and future, and that the applicant truly exemplifies the spirit of the Middle Atlantic District.

The applicant will be able to check the status of received letters by logging in to the application page. Please be considerate in giving the representative sufficient time to write a letter before the due date.
